Edit a PDF without uploading it

Open a PDF, image, Word (.docx) or PowerPoint (.pptx). Office files are converted locally into PDF pages that you can edit, merge and save. For complex layouts, export to PDF in Office first for best fidelity.

Windows: press Win + Shift + S, select an area, then use Paste or Ctrl + V.

PDF and image contents stay inside this browser. When online, Firebase is used only to detect the same BlitzTrials login and verified Premium entitlement used by the Image Editor; document contents are not uploaded.

Frames stay outside the QR quiet border so scanning remains reliable. Gradient colours only appear for the Gradient frame. Other styles use Border, Background, and Wording colours.

    Recognize text on scanned PDFs or image pages so BlitzTrials can find it, convert it to editable Word text, and make saved PDFs searchable.

    OCR support is prepared in the background. The service worker pre-downloads the OCR runtime and supported language models when the editor is installed/updated. Standard Find OCR runs automatically. Advanced OCR is optional for Find and OCR Scan Text; you choose it when needed. Recognition runs on this device; your PDF or page image is not uploaded to an OCR service.

    OCR accuracy depends on scan quality, resolution, rotation and typography. Handwriting and very complex layouts may not recognize reliably.

    LOCAL TABLE EXTRACTION

    Detect tables on the selected page using the same advanced vector, rendered-border and OCR reconstruction engine used by Editable Word. Scanned pages are recognized locally when needed.

    BLITZTRIALS CONVERSION

    Convert PDF to Word / PowerPoint

    BlitzTrials reconstructs documents locally. Image-backed pages use a layout-preserving editable canvas, while text-based pages can use regular Word paragraphs and tables. OCR may leave uncertain words in the original artwork rather than erase them. No cloud conversion service is used.

    Choose Chinese — Simplified or Chinese — Traditional for Chinese text. Use Text First for editable paragraphs, or Editable Word to retain the page layout. Check recognised text against the PDF.

    Reconstruction settings
    Text appearance and document structure

    Searchable PDFs: BlitzTrials carries detected font family, Word-compatible font size, text colour, bold and italic styling into the DOCX and can rebuild reliable tables and form fields with editable cell shading. Scanned PDFs: recognised printed text is editable. Uncertain words, signatures and other marks can remain as images when Keep photos and graphics is enabled; scan fonts are approximations.

    Scanned forms and tables

    For image-only PDFs, BlitzTrials analyses the rendered scan for horizontal and vertical borders, including grey paper, faint rules and small line breaks. Valid grids become explicit Word tables with visible borders and detected cell background colours, including empty cells; OCR words are written inside their best-matching cells. Scanned or patterned fills are approximated with a solid colour.

    Word converter — native tables and editable paragraphs (v1.13.13). Click text or a table cell to type. Coloured panels use normal Word cells with their detected fills and accents. Double-click the header or footer area to edit its contents. Find and editable Word conversion recognise scanned text automatically.

    PDF and Word use different layout models. Vector and scanned table borders are reconstructed where reliable. Severely damaged borders, handwriting, unusual fonts and overlapping artwork can still require manual adjustment after conversion. Installed fonts can affect appearance.

    Applies only when enlarging image-only or rasterized pages. Native PDF vector text and drawings keep their original sharpness. Preview shows placement; enhanced pixels are produced when saving. Enlarging cannot restore missing source detail.

    The preview shows the original page artwork. Added objects and OCR text are positioned during export. The editor keeps the original working view until you save/reopen the resized PDF.

    Quality: Original-quality save preserves vector text and graphics when possible. Pages that require flattening use adaptive, multi-step resampling for substantial downsizing. Enlargement cannot recreate detail absent in a low-resolution photo.

    LOCAL PDF EDITOR

    Quick guide

    1. Open PDFSelect PDFs, images, Word (.docx) or PowerPoint (.pptx). Supported images: PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF (first frame) and BMP. Word and PowerPoint are converted locally to PDF pages; complex layouts, unusual fonts, SmartArt, animations and charts may differ. For exact output, export to PDF from Office first. Password-protected PDFs ask for their existing password locally. That original password is not automatically copied to the new PDF.
    2. Select or reorderSelect Pages only when you need thumbnails. Drag thumbnails to reorder; hold near the thumbnail-list edge to auto-scroll through long documents. Use each thumbnail’s three-dot menu for page actions.
    3. Edit or delete pagesOpen Pages when needed. Use each thumbnail’s three-dot menu for Replace, Insert, Rotate, Duplicate, Crop, Resize or Delete. Undo can restore reversible changes.
    4. Paint / cover original contentOpen Paint, then Pick from page. Touch or click the background, drag to adjust, and release to choose its colour. For shaded backgrounds, choose Blend background and draw a box around the mark with clean background on all four sides; the patch stays selectable and Undo restores the original. Add replacement logos afterwards. Solid Paint is best for flat colours. Keep painted pages intact preserves their appearance as pictures in Word; use Visual Copy for previously saved poster PDFs.
    5. Highlight / markerSelect Highlight, choose a marker colour and thickness, then drag across existing page content. Marker strokes are translucent and can be undone.
    6. Add replacement contentChoose Text, Link, Shapes, Image, QR code, Signature / chop, Stamp or Watermark, prepare the item, then click or tap the exact place on the PDF page where it should be inserted. Text starts from the clicked point; images, signatures and stamps are centred on it. Added objects remain clickable and editable later. Shapes include lines, arrows, boxes, ellipses, triangles, diamonds, stars and speech/thought bubbles. Select a shape to move it, resize it using a corner, rotate it or use Flip. Double-click a shape to change its colours, outline, opacity or dimensions; edits stay with the same object. QR code can encode a website link, contact / name card, email, phone, SMS, WhatsApp, Wi-Fi, text, or other advanced content and is generated locally. Watermark can target the current page, a page-number selection or all pages; one placement click is copied to every target page. Stamp can combine custom text with saved chops/stamps and signatures inside or outside its border. Choosing another function cancels a waiting placement, and Paint/Highlight automatically turns off when you switch to another function.
    7. Reuse signatures / chopsOpen Signature / chop and choose Saved to reuse items stored in this browser. When drawing or uploading, tick Save for reuse on this device and give the item a name. For long-term protection, connect a Permanent local backup folder: BlitzTrials keeps a local .btlib recovery file there and can automatically update it when the saved library changes. The backup is not uploaded to Firebase or BlitzTrials. Keep that folder protected because it contains your saved signature/stamp images.
    8. Find / fillCtrl+F searches searchable PDF text. Fill form detects common text, checkbox, radio and choice fields on the selected PDF page and places the completed values into the saved copy.
    9. OCR scanned textFind and editable Word conversion automatically recognise text on every page, including coloured panels and text drawn as shapes. Results are reused during the session. Tools → OCR scanned text remains available for manual Current page / Scanned pages / All pages recognition. The service worker pre-caches the OCR engine and supported language models; document pixels stay on your device.
    10. Extract a tableOpen Tools → Extract table on the selected page. BlitzTrials reuses the advanced table detector from Editable Word, automatically OCRs a scanned page when required, then shows an editable grid. Correct any cell before copying the table or downloading CSV / Excel. Merged cells and detected cell fills are preserved in Excel where possible.
    11. Word / PowerPointOpen Tools → Word / PowerPoint. Editable Word creates normal paragraphs and native tables with text directly in their cells; click a cell to type. Advanced: Editable Canvas keeps the artwork as a page image, blends away reliably recognised text and places editable text boxes at the same positions. Choose Word (.docx) or PowerPoint (.pptx) inside Advanced. PowerPoint keeps large poster canvases at their original size up to 1422.4 mm per side, with one page per slide; mixed-size pages are centred on a common canvas. Word’s page-size setting defaults to the original PDF dimensions. Visual Copy preserves each page as an image. Scanned text is recognised automatically for editable conversion.
    12. Comments / reviewOpen Comments to add a non-printing comment pin, reply, resolve or delete. Review conversations are stored inside PDFs saved by BlitzTrials and reappear when that PDF is opened again in BlitzTrials.
    13. Crop / resize / fitCrop removes page-edge margins on export. Resize supports A5, A4, A3, A2, A1, Letter, Legal, Tabloid and custom millimetres, with Fit / Fill / Original-size content placement. Use New blank to create an empty PDF at an exact custom size. Page / Width / Height controls change only the editing view.
    14. Save optionsSelect Save for a normal default export. Tick Advanced save options only when you need compression, password protection, redaction, header/footer or page numbers. Passwords are kept in memory only.
    15. Save or printSave downloads a separate PDF. Print prepares the current edited document without BlitzTrials review comments. Free or guest saved exports include a very small “Edited with BlitzTrials.com” footer. When the same BlitzTrials Firebase login used by the main dashboard is detected and the user profile has Premium entitlement, saved exports are watermark-free.
    Important

    Editing creates a new document. Interactive form fields, links, third-party PDF annotations and digital signatures may be flattened or removed. BlitzTrials review comments are preserved separately as non-printing review data. Keep your original PDF.
